The Twin’s Trophy is an award for which modeller’s compete at the CAPCON competition, held every two years by IPMS Ottawa. Gary Barling, who is the Liaison Member to IPMS Farnborough, sponsors the trophy. Also, because Gary is a full member of IPMS Farnborough, he is their Liaison member to IPMS Ottawa! The Twin's Trophy The motivation for the Twin’s Trophy is to commemorate and enhance the twinning of the two IPMS clubs. For each CAPCON, Gary designates a specific theme for the trophy. The key stipulation is that the theme has to reflect a campaign, operation, battle or other action that involved at least elements of both British and Canadian forces. For example, for CAPCON 2007, the chosen theme was “The Battle of Britain.” This theme was chosen in part because the competition was held on September 15th, which is “Battle of Britain” Day. The scope of the theme is as wide as possible. Even though the theme reflects the inclusion of Canadian and British forces, any other force that took part, on either side of the conflict, is eligible. So, for the 2007 competition, models of German aircraft or equipment were eligible, as were aircraft flown, for example, by Polish (in RAF aircraft) or Italian pilots. In the event, the winner of the 2007 Twin’s Trophy was Sylvain Couture with a beautifully built German Bf 109E. Gary and IPMS Farnborough member Les Burningham made the presentation.
