Members that attend virtual meetings are encouraged to follow common-sense etiquette guidelines to help promote respectful interaction for a more positive meeting experience. Members attending the virtual meetings of other hobby clubs are encouraged to follow the same etiquette guidelines, as they may be reasonably perceived to be representing IPMS Ottawa. |

- Let others in your household know beforehand that you will be participating in a videoconference, so that they can minimize or avoid potential distractions that may cause interruptions.
|
|
- Use your real hame to identify yourself; avoid using nicknames or social media titles.
|
|
- Whenever possible, enable your camera so that participants can see you.
|
|
- Ensure that your microphone is operating properly and set to an appropriate volume that is not too loud.

- If your connection quality or speed fluctuates during a meeting, try turning off your camera and/or muting your microphone to see if the connection improves.
|
|
- During formal presentations:
|
- Mute your microphone to avoid interrupting the presentation.
|
- Raise your hand (using that Zoom function) if you want to ask a question, and wait for the presenter to address you.
|
- It is the presenter's perogative to answer questions during or after their presentation.
|
|
|
- Be courteous and respectful.
|
- Try to avoid interrupting others when they are speaking.
|
|
- If you want to share content (aka "sharing your screen"):
|
- Obtain permission from the host first.
|
- Share only appropriate content.
|
- If you intend to share a video, let the host know the length of the video beforehand.
|
- The host reserves the right to approve, refuse, or cancel sharing of content.
|
|
- Use the chat function to share relevant links of interest to participants.
- Since the chat function may be used to send messages to everyone or specific participants, USE CAREFULLY or you may accidentally send a private message to everyone.
